Famously Anonymous: Dafen Does Van Gogh is an exhibition dealing with art forgery, art reproduction and counterfeits. Curated by the 2012-2013 Introduction to Museum Studies class at Western University, Famously Anonymous presents visitors with well-known paintings. A closer glance however reveals that even the most seemingly authentic painting is actually counterfeit. Featuring paintings by the artists of Dafen, China as well as London, Canada, Famously Anonymous questions the idea of originality and authenticity. When it comes to art, what is real? What is fake? What is copyright? What is original?
The exhibit opens Friday, March 22, 2013 with a reception to follow on opening night.
